Azerbaijan Scaling-Up Renewable Energy Project (AZURE). Environmental andSocial Impact Assessment Report. AZERENERJI OJSC. 2024.

The “Azerbaijan Scaling-Up Renewable Energy Project” (AZURE Project) is a significant initiative in Azerbaijan aimed at expanding the country’s renewable energy capacity and infrastructure. The primary objectives of the AZURE Project are to: I) significantly increase the share of renewable energy in Azerbaijan’s energy mix, II) expand and modernize the existing electricity transmission network, and III) ensure the smooth and efficient integration of renewable energy sources into the national grid.

The AZURE Project is expected to bring numerous benefits to Azerbaijan, including enhanced energy security, reduced reliance on fossil fuels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and the creation of new jobs in the renewable energy sector.

As part of the Environmental and Socio-Economic Impact Assessment (ESIA) prepared by IQLIM, data analysis, extensive field research, social surveys, and comprehensive monitoring were conducted to assess the current state of the environmental and socio-economic conditions in the project area and its potential area of influence.
